Portrait of Mirabel Ehirim, ceramic artist and founder of Morph & Matter, sitting on a couch and holding a handmade mug.

Mirabel Ehirim is a Ceramic Artist based in Hamilton, Ontario.

I took my first pottery class in March 2024, and it quickly became a way to reconnect with myself. Over time, it grew into something more.

Morph & Matter is where I handbuild ceramic pieces that are both functional and sculptural, made to be used and admired. I want people to pick them up, turn them around, and take in the details.

That moment of “this is too pretty to use” is exactly what I’m going for: to create everyday objects that feel striking, personal, and artistic.

Every piece is hand-built and shaped by feel. Rather than following rigid plans, I let the clay evolve naturally as I work. I’m drawn to bold forms, layered textures, and experimental glaze combinations that create contrast and depth. Floral influences, organic shapes, and sculptural appliqués often emerge throughout my work.

At the core of my practice is the belief that art should not feel distant or too delicate to engage with. I want people to hold my pieces, use them, and experience them up close.

My work lives in the in-between space: functional yet expressive, personal yet shareable, familiar yet surprising.

Morph & Matter was born out of a need to reconnect with creativity and reimagine everyday objects as living, thoughtful art. It’s more than ceramics, it’s about making space for beauty, story, and meaning in the everyday.
