Ways to Work With the Studio
-
Made-to-Order Pieces
These are established designs available directly through the shop and are paid in full at checkout. They do not require an intro call. Each made-to-order piece is created in the artist’s established sculptural style, with limited, guided customization outlined on the individual product page.
Custom Commissions
Custom commissions are offered selectively for projects that fall outside the regular shop offerings, such as:
Full dinnerware sets
Large or ongoing orders for cafés or restaurants
One-off sculptural projects not listed in the shop
Custom commissions involve an intro call, a written proposal, and a staged payment structure.
About the Work
-
In Morph & Matter commissions, “sculptural” means each piece is treated as both a functional object and a work of art. Handles, rims, textures, and glazing are designed with artistic intention, so no two pieces are alike. These pieces are made to be used, but also to be noticed, as statement objects in a home or space.
-
No. All pieces are hand-built without molds, so slight variations in form, glaze, and texture are part of their individuality. Reference images show style, scale, and mood, not an exact replica.
Process and Timelines
-
Possibly, if it aligns with the artist’s sculptural style and current studio capacity, please submit details through the commission inquiry form. Not all requests can be accommodated.
-
Inquiry Form: Complete the commission request form with details about your chosen piece type and preferences.
Design Proposal & Quote: A written proposal will be shared, including project scope, customization options, estimated timeline, and cost.
Deposit: A 60% non-refundable deposit secures your place in the production schedule.
Creation: Your piece will be handbuilt in the studio. Progress updates are shared at 2–3 key milestones.
Final Payment & Delivery: The remaining 40% balance, along with a separate shipping invoice, must be paid in full before delivery or pickup.
-
Your commission start date depends on the existing studio schedule. The deposit secures your place in line, and work begins once prior commissions are completed. An estimated start and completion date will be shared when your order is confirmed.
-
Yes. I’ll share 2-3 key updates during production (e.g., after forming, bisque firing, and final glazing). These updates are meant to keep you connected to the process without disrupting the creative flow.
-
Timelines vary depending on the piece:
Made-to-Order
Sculptural Floral Mugs: approx. 8 weeks
Sculptural Chess Sets: 5–7 months (only 3–4 made per year)
Custom Commissions
Dinnerware Sets: 2–3 months
Larger or more complex orders may require extra time, which we’ll discuss during your intro call.
-
No, the slow, hand-crafted process and shared kiln access mean I can’t offer rush timelines.
Customization Options
-
Customization depends on the type of order.
Made-to-Order
Customization details for made-to-order pieces are outlined on each individual product listing. Any preferences shared at checkout are treated as inspiration and interpreted in the artist’s established sculptural style.
Custom Commissions
Customization is discussed during the proposal stage and may include:

Functional considerations
Final design decisions always remain with the artist to ensure cohesion and integrity of the work.
