Commisions Overview

  • I currently accept commissions for:

    • Sculptural Chess Sets

    • Dinnerware Sets (plates, bowls)

    • Sculptural Mugs

  • In Morph & Matter commissions, “sculptural” means each piece is treated as both a functional object and a work of art. Handles, rims, textures, and glazing are designed with artistic intention, so no two pieces are alike. Your dinnerware or mug set won’t just be for use, it will be a statement in your home or space.

  • Possibly, if it aligns with my style. Please include details in your inquiry form.

  • No, each piece is made by hand without molds, so slight variations in form, glaze, and texture are part of its individuality.

Process and Timelines

    1. Inquiry Form: Complete the commission request form with details about your chosen piece type and preferences.

    2. Design Proposal & Quote: A written proposal will be shared, including project scope, customization options, estimated timeline, and cost.

    3. Deposit: A 60% non-refundable deposit secures your place in the production schedule.

    4. Creation: Your piece will be handbuilt in the studio. Progress updates are shared at 2–3 key milestones.

    5. Final Payment & Delivery: The remaining 40% balance, along with a separate shipping invoice, must be paid in full before delivery or pickup.

  • Your commission start date depends on the existing studio schedule. The deposit secures your place in line, and work begins once prior commissions are completed. An estimated start and completion date will be shared when your order is confirmed.

  • Yes. I’ll share 2-3 key updates during production (e.g., after forming, bisque firing, and final glazing). These updates are meant to keep you connected to the process without disrupting the creative flow.

  • Timelines vary depending on the piece:

    • Chess Sets: 5–7 months from deposit date

    • Dinnerware Sets: 2–3 months from deposit date

    • Sculptural Mugs: 2–3 months from deposit date

Larger or more complex orders may require extra time, which we’ll discuss during your intro call.

  • No, the slow, hand-crafted process and shared kiln access mean I can’t offer rush timelines.

 Customization Options

  • Yes, each commission type offers specific customization options:

    • Chess Sets: Choice of glaze palette. Stained glass colour is curated to complement the chosen glaze and is selected at the artist’s discretion to ensure balance and harmony.

    • Dinnerware Sets: Choice of glaze colour; sizing can be discussed during your intro call.

    • Sculptural Mugs: Choice of interior glaze colour. Handle design and overall form are shaped by my creative process and will be a surprise for individual orders. For cafés and restaurants, I can take some input on handle style to suit your service needs. If you have strong preferences or ergonomic needs, please share them during your intro call so we can ensure the final piece is a good fit.

  • For sculptural mugs, you choose both the interior glaze colour and handle style category from these options:

    • Organic & Flowing (curved, nature-inspired shapes with soft movement)

    • Geometric & Structured (architectural lines, angular cuts, and symmetry)

    • Playful & Abstract (bold, unexpected forms with a touch of whimsy)

    • Surprise Me (full creative freedom)

Once you choose your style, I create the final handle and overall form in my own sculptural approach. This way, your mug reflects your taste while keeping an element of surprise that makes each piece truly one-of-a-kind.

Product-Specific

    • What’s customizable? Choice of glaze palette. Stained glass colour will be selected to complement the glaze palette and remain part of the artist’s sculptural vision.

    • How long does it take? 5–7 months from deposit date.

    • How many do you make each year? Only 3–4 chess sets per year are accepted.

    • What’s customizable? Choice of glaze colour; sizing can be discussed during your intro call.

    • How long does it take? 2–3 months from deposit date. Larger or more complex orders may require more time, we’ll confirm your timeline during the intro call.

    • Will each piece match exactly? No, each is handmade and glazed individually, so there will be subtle variations in shape, texture, and glaze pooling. This variation is part of what makes your set unique while keeping it cohesive.

    • Can I order replacements later? Yes, but because each piece is handmade, exact matches aren’t possible. I can create new pieces in the same glaze palette and style so they blend seamlessly with your set, but there may be slight differences in tone or texture due to natural glaze variation and changes in clay batches over time.
