Blooming in the broken ground

There’s a concrete balcony outside my room, fully paved, no soil in sight, and yet, somehow, weeds grow there. It’s always struck me: the way life insists on growing, even in the least forgiving places. I wanted to capture that quiet defiance in this bowl. I imagined a flower blooming out of rough terrain, a sign of beauty not despite the hardship, but because of it.

This piece holds a lot of who I was when I made it. I was in a season where I’d lost so much, including my sense of self, and yet, somehow, I was beginning to bloom again. Not in a perfect or planned way, but in a way that felt real. Steady. Rooted.

This piece reminds me that there is Joy in chaos, and the quiet kind of growth that happens when everything else falls away.
